The second or third episode, I can't remember which, where they took that guys body out of space, even though it was his wish, really bothered me. I mean come one. Respect his dying wish.

I finished watching Planetes alone a few months ago after having only seen one DVD from BigLots around 2005. The characters are very likable, and that realistic approach to space travel was refreshing, almost in the same vein as 2001: A Space Odyssey. I read some of the manga too.

It went in a surprisingly deep direction towards the end, with the depths of space as sort of an allegory for the subconscious, at least the way I saw it.
