I know about Synergy, or have heard of it atleast. except on the left is running parrot (offshoot of kali ((inb4 14 yr old haxor it comes with anonymity tools I like)) the middle is tails, and the right is windows xp i use for emulating and playing doom. i just tuck the keyboard in the back when im not using it. I also have a monitor/chromebook on my bed for streaming late night anime.

I hate to bump the thread if it is dead, but I wanted to share my battlestation at my new place.

Figured I would cut down on the amount of stuff in my life. My 45TB+ array is still here, downstairs where I can not hear it, but I have decided to move down to a single laptop (T410) as my primary, and I have a few spares if something goes wrong. It feels pretty darn minimal, which I hope is not to lame for you all.

Not quite sure if I like the TV there, but it is nice for watching anime when I am done working. I may get rid of it though, as it is a little bit of a distraction, and kinda makes the space weird.

Hey, friend! Don't worry about bumping any potentially dead threads. It means front-page riders can find it and possibly show off their kick ass desktop. :)

Good to know. I like battlestation threads (although they can be a little excessive on /g/) but I really like the attitude of acceptance on here.

While that second pic is super minimalistic, it pains me to see such a drop in productivity with 1 screen and no real mouse. Balance between full-on desktop and nearly nothing is needed, so I'd go with that first pic.

Also, if that's going to be placed with any permanence, I suggest getting a docking station. Allows for DVI out, more USB ports, and headphone/speaker out all at the back, for neater cables. Totally worth the $20 it cost for mine.

I have a similar setup, waiting for things to come from kalyx before posting.

I feel like my productivity drops with multiple screens sometimes. That's not always true, but sometimes it becomes a little bit of a distraction.

As for keyboard an mouse on the second picture, they are on the keyboard tray that slides out under the desk. The mouse is a trackball mouse, so I do not need a lot of space to operate to because I do not have to move it. The keyboard is a 60% Pok3r so it all fits down there.

Also, as for the dock, I am thinking of moving to a T420 or T430 because my T410 is not in great shape, and I am not sure if the docks are comparable across generations, so I will pick one up when. I decide what I am doing.

Thanks for the suggestions!

22". It does 2048x1536@85Hz. I use it with 1600x1200 because the pixel density is perfect that way. Shit's real good for playin Quake because 1024x768 can do 160Hz.

Also I do own that book, it just came from a library.

I have a really soykaf Hanns 1366x768 that I use in portrait for programing. It only cost like £60 new. I de-bezeled it to make it flush with the edge of my main monitor and it looks decent. The resolution is enough to take advantage of portrait for text editing.

Also, you don't really need a monitor stand or anything. I have mine propped up against a few books. I like the look of it better that big ugly hydraulic arms all over my desk.
