It's better that it's open source than not.

Personally although it has Matrix potential, I like it.
p.s. Human computer interface =/= Human brain interface. Because even just your regular GUI or CLI is a human computer interface.

the problem of this generation EEG brain-computer interface is that it can't compensate for folds of the brain and it can't read specific thoughts or ideas directly out of brain(but can associate them with brain activity pattern such as you thinking about moving your arm up or down)
