>tfw i know nothing about hardware.

I'm into tech, but i have really only every had a regular laptop. No extra hard drives/external, no rasppis, no sd cards, no desktop, no tablets, etc.

I like running Linux, i like learning, programming, learning about software, etc. But again, I'm clueless when it comes to hardware.

I realize this is dumb extremely subjective and vague question, but as a noob, what should i buy?

I've got about $400 to spare for this, so what would you guys recommend for babbys first /tech/ playkit?

I am nearly the same as you, OP.
I've left this open and I read a little as I save money.

lol, not as in circuits, but slot together components? there's nothing to learn except how to google for price/feature comparison charts.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

I'm just looking for some ideas. I've never really had money to spare before, and I'm interested in what kind of tech i could buy. Again i realize this is an extremely vague question, as there are many things out there, so maybe i should rephrase.

What would you look into buying if you were a noob?

Try finding something that you can't do without hardware knowledge aND go for it.

I'm kinda jealous, to be honest. I can build and dissassemble just about any desktop, laptop, rack etc. etc. etc., I know most hardware pretty intametly, but I can never seem to wrap my head around programming, and I'm soykaf at math. I can use terminal, and write batch files, shell scripts and the like, but nothing really more complicated than that.

Honestly, if you've never built your own computer ever, I'd recommend you buy parts and built it yourself. Even if it's just one of those Newegg bundles (which you can get a pretty good deal on http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2254081 )
just do it. Get your hands dirty. The first time you clamp down a heat sink on a processor is an awesome feeling, I can still remember it.

That first computer you build from party by yourself I can pretty much guarantee will be your baby, or at least it's mine. I don't even have half the same parts in it anymore but it's covered in stickers, I still use the same case. I just love it.

don't buy anything. you have a computer.

I'm pretty soykaf at match as well, but I've been reading a few books and practicing around an hour every single day for a month now. I've gotten a lot better, but I'm still pretty bad. Just have to keep practicing I suppose.
My advice is to get some lessons on YouTube and on Khan Academy. You should also give these a read on your spare time.

I know you can do it, lainon.

pls give a hint

I'm probably retarded if I didn't figure the pic out. it's not about prime factorization, is it?

Not a meme. Pattern is there, keep looking.

>>14015
Actually, no.

This is a generalization, but if you are fairly educated, especially when it comes to things like math, cs, programming, etc. It would probably be harder for you to work out.

For assembling your PC, look up logicalincrements dot com. I would suggest buying a laptop though, preferably a Thinkpad - this way you can differentiate between not doing cool soykaf (desktop PC with games and such) and doing cool soykaf (laptop, can be taken to a hackaton or whereever you want, pretty mobile). Might not be the best system of doing stuff, but I like it this way (87.3% people who dual-boot end up booting one OS due to games and Windows not understanding GNU/Linux filesystems)

calculate the number of generators of the first homology groups for each number, understood as the union of finitely many disjoint topological spaces.

It's actually way simpler than that guys, and is why preschoolers tend to answer this question faster than college graduates...you ready for this?

It's the number of "circles" in the digits that make up the number.

I know, I was pissed after I found that out. I guess it goes to show that it pays to look at some things as they really are and not what it represents.

I worked it out without noticing this. I just knew what each digit was worth.

if it's the same for all possible inputs it's safe to say that the two functions are the same.
