Because it's my favourite text editor. I like that it has so wide support, I can tune it to my needs. The fact that it is feature-rich, even when I don't even use most of its possibilities, is least of my problems. It gets job done and it's the only thing that matters to me.

I'm obviously using a lot of other software, which I would be happy to find good alternatives to, but there simply are none, which would make the switch satisfactory.

>>13442
I'm not minimalist for the sake of being minimalist. I just use stuff that does not make me waste time and is comfortable to use.

Distro: Debian Stable.
Environment: awesomewm.
Terminal Emulator: mate-terminal. I dislike every terminal emulator for some reason. This is the one I dislike the less.
Shell: bash.
Web browser: iceweasel.
File browser: ranger. I find every other file browser uncomfortable since I tried it.
Programming Language: C, PHP, a bit of Ruby and Javascript. Bash scripting too, I guess, but it's hardly a real language.
Text Editor: vim. Once you learn how to use the jumplist, buffers, :g, :s, :norm, :bufdo, :read, system commands and the like you can't go back to regular text editors.
IRC Client: weechat.
Torrent: deluge. Works nicely as a server and I don't like transmission that much.
Paint Tool: gimp and mypaint.
Email: icedove. I wanna move to another client. It's sorta right on normal circustances, but on a tiling desktop is the worst.
Music: mpd+ncmpcpp plus some scripts using mpc tied to the multimedia keys on my keyboard. It's really nice to be able to play/stop music with one keystroke without opening a client.
Video: mpv and smplayer+mplayer2.
Backup: custom script using rsync.

I have to use OS X at work so I'm not gonna h8. Have you tried VOX instead of iTunes for music, though? Gets less in the way, IMO.

Do you use Homebrew? That with zsh in iTerm2 made the whole system much more palatable.

Do you use multiple email accounts with mutt ? If so, how do you retrieve/send your mail ? I tried to use mutt multiple times but having to setup more than one email account is really painful.

>>13750
I don't know how awesome deals with fullscreen windows, but on i3 I use the compose window in fullscreen mode and Icedove's quite alright. Also, if you haven't tried muttator yet, you should look into it, it's quite nice.

awesome lets you put one window on fullscreen or configurate a workspace so all the windows are in fullscreen and you can change the active window with the usual keybindings. To be honest, I should use that option instead of opening icedove on my current workspace in tiling mode.

I never do it because I don't want to reserve a workspace for mails because I write them once a week. But yeah, that would be the sensible thing to do. muttator looks good, though. I forgot it existed.
