What do you guys think about Morrowind?
It's my favurite TES game and I probably have 666+ hours in the game.
Yet I have never finished the game.
I enjoy just exploring, reading books and such.
And I guess ill dump some art.

I think its the greatest in TES series, and one of the greatest open world RPGs of all times. I basically lived there for couple of years, playing at least one hour a day. It feels great just wandering around and ocassionally exploring caves and dungeons, riding to Balmora to sleep after fights.

When I played it, internet was a luxury. So me and my bro bought game magazines that included CDs with mods and all other stuff. Just installing new mod and see what it can do was fun. New apartments, caves, weapons, all that.

I also loved searching for unique items and artifacts.

So many hours. SO. MANY. HOURS.
Still one of the best RPGs of all time, simply because of the unique art direction, original character, creature and setting design. Skyrim has much better gameplay, but the setting is just not as unique as Morrowind.

Pic fuarrrking related.

I am in somewhat the same situation now. I do not have a stable internet connection and using a dial up.
So I live there right now.
I did not have the joy of playing it as a kid. I only tried it at a family members house and discarded it as I didn't really understand English at the time.
So the first TES game I played properly was Skyrim.

>>2655
I actually think a lot of morrowinds gameplay is superior.
Skyrim is somewhat bad unless you mod it until it breaks.
I have been playing around in Skyrim using Requiem and Frostfall as of late. And it makes the game a lot more fun and immersive. Morrowind kind of drags you into the game, and is more fun because you feel the character progression a lot more.

Same here, I never progressed the story farther than Balmora, restarted so many times and explored the soykaf out that island. This was on Xbox though, so I'd have to come back and play it in its full modded glory one day.

Morrowind was my life for a little while. I remember playing it for hours at a time, never getting bored. Add in Bloodmoon and Tribunal and I could be happy for ever. I've only ever played through the main story once, and that was on a character created purely for that purpose.

I guess I need to play it again, it's been a while. I should probably try out openmw as well.

OpenMW is good, only problem is that mobs do not seem to respawn on the surface. And there are very few. So when walking around red mountain there are almost no cliff racers. First it felt like blessing, then it got even more boring than having a encounter every minute.

I like this picture a lot.

Something about the culture ingame stuck with me, and I don't know why. No, I don't want to live as an Ashlander tribesman, but the overall lifestyle(minus Red Mountain) appeals to me.

Where do you think they took inspiration from to create this culture?

the plant cities in the far east are really cool though! do not forget to visit them

>>2661
>Yeah, Morrowind would not be the same without cliff racers
oh god yes, every 2 meters

you gotta level up your blunt on SOMETHING right

i just noticed i have stories and remarks about morrowind.

first of all, bloodmoon is cool, install it and go quest on the new northern island, you get a nice house and shit

secondly, when i used to play:
>be a kid
>have no clue
>find a metal rod with minor lightning/fire/ice enchant in chest in balmora
>be ork
>beat up people for shiny armor pieces etc
>hand-to-hand combat is bugged, npcs toggle fists on and off instead of attacking
>shamelessly exploit that and all the 99 other KI bugs
>killed so many npcs and cliff racers with the shitty rod i became a blunt weapon specialist
>find 7 league boots that make you run super fast but also blind or something
>savegame gets glitched somehow, speed enchant is stuck on char without negative effects
>i can run so fast i can go anywhere
>find end boss
>mess around
>story in that savegame is fubar because i killed chars relevant to the main quests

>>

I was once fighting on arena in one of those plant cities and found a corpse impaled with daedric wakizashi, which is rather rare and fast weapon. Damn, played the rest of the game with it.

But guars give me a really camel vibe. I am not sure what culture to compare it with as it's so unique.

Best Elder Scrolls game by far, and the most fun I've had exploring a game in general. Haven't played it in a while, I should really get myself a halfway decent rig and try all the fun things MGE will let me do. And then play it some more.

Also, Crassius <3

Well, its TES, not too high standard to begin with (i can only imagine how simplified and horrible the later titles are). Its rather action adventure than rpg. At least it has decent amount of dialog, but not much else.

I rather play the worst Ultima title (that would probably be 8), but hey, some people actually play grindfest Japanese rpg's too.

I remember when i have tried it somewhere around 2005 (i was 14 at the time), but Morrowind has pushed me away for some reason. The gameplay was somewhat clunky experience, i didn't particularly liked atmosphere of the world, and just got bored in few hours. I remember i was greatly enjoying Gothic and Gothic 2 at this time instead. Maybe i should try to play TES again and see if i gain interest in it now, because i've had such cases before when particular game was shitty for me at first try.

I reinstalled it with OpenMW. It's just feel too damn empty now. Bare lands, ghost towns and bland dialogues. It get me bored quickly. I felt like this for a long time now, but I'm sick of game where I can't be anything else than a killing machine. I'm still like the setting a lot.

I don't play Skyrim without Frostfall, Hypothermia, and Imps more complex needs. That's what actually brings skyrim to life, those mods are mastercrafts and actually give Skyrim and cold and harsh feel.

Though I love morrowind, Oblivion had my favorite setting. Really loved the Byzantine feel to it. It feels like you're living in a thriving society that happens to be living in the well kept ruins of another society.
>>2974
Good call, you do need a pretty bad ass PC to run morrowind.

The Dumner are the Jews because they're a people governed by old religion and tradition, belong to a province at the fringe of a large imperial empire that controls them with legionnaires, their tradition and sovereignty is being wrecked by outside influence, and the Dumner are waiting for a messiah. The "waiting for a messiah" thing is the main plot of the game too.
