Who Dark Souls 1/2 here? Any DS3 hype? I'm on my 1000000th playthrough.

I never liked those games. They're all about being hard, but that's it.

They have amazing lore, and the story isn't spooned too you.

I beat the Demon Souls, Dark Souls predecessor. It has same lore and atmosphere. Haven't played Dark Souls because have nothing to play on, and Bloodborne looks amazing too.

if you've only played them once or twice and then quite when you got stuck, you're missing the point. Theres fantastic depth to them and getting stuck and dying a lot is normal and part of the play->die->learn->conquer process. Using my wits to overcome a difficult boss on first playthrough is one of the most rewarding things in a videogame for me.

This is not true. This is just a marketing point and the first impression newcomers get.

Once you "get it", you realize the combat is very fair and predictable (although also requiring a fair amount of skill and concentration from the player).

The story and most importantly backstory of the games is what they are really about. Pure art.

Just picked up the DLC for 2 in the recent Steam sale. About to dive into them, in fact. Then I'll probably replay Dark Souls for the hundredth time.

Never thought I'd say this, but I wish I had a PS3 so I could play Demon's.

> Game about simple blocking and attacking mechanics
> It literally spoils most encounters to you if you simply look at the background and have spatial awareness
> You recover all lost progress when failing if you simply walk to where you died, especially when luring opponents is a viable strategy
> The actual hard encounters you are allowed to bring op sunbro with you
I guess it is the hardest thing if you compare it to Kirby or the like.

Really, the game is all about enjoying it with a community. It is heavily built towards making people work, understand and discuss it together while at the same time being fully able to troll each other. And everywhere you look there is suffering. Internet, the game. Granted, playing alone is completely fine.

One thing I really love is the start of DS1. The subtle way they explain what your rescuer was doing there and how he dies is very engrossing.

That didn't really become an issue until Dark Souls 2 came out. Despite the garbage marketing campaign for Dark Souls in the US it was still pretty fair, lot of people just mistake difficulty in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 with a lack of hand holding. If you really wanna see hard go play King's Field.

Bloodborne is the best Souls yet. Also, it's getting an expansion pak soon.

DeS/1 were great, the best games of the entire 7th gen.

2 was a let-down but still better than most 7th gen games.

They are so good that I stopped playing games because my expectations are too high to accept anything less now.

Anybody played Dark Soul on Linux with Wine? It's one of the few "aaa" or non-indie gayme really want to try.

I bought that game on PS3, then on PC, then I bought the season pass, then I bought SotFS.

I fuarrrking hate it and I've spent like 200 bucks on it.

It's the only series I have 1000+ hours invested in.

>>2637
I loved this about the game. There weren't really any boring parts, and when you just wanted to take it easy you could always explore and read the description behind EVERY item you had.

>>2640
You got a Steam?

I stopped playing/caring about the Souls series after the let down that DaS 2 was, and Bloodborne just never looked that interesting to me.
I still love Demon's Souls and Dark Souls though.
As for Dark Souls 3 I just don't really know, maybe I'll pick it on when its cheap.
