I only know Touhou. Are others great? Which should I play? I've heard good things about Ikaruga. Is any available for Linux?

Also, is there any story-driven one that is designed for moving on after every level you beat? In Touhou you have to start from the beginning every time you lose, which is fine, but I prefer the other approach.

What are some /cyb/ games? Video games, traditional games, you name it. I've been playing Snatcher, and it's really cool.

Hey, I remember this game! My solution to level 13 was this:
var canMove = function(x,y, walked){
return (map.getObjectTypeAt(x, y) == 'empty' ||
map.getObjectTypeAt(x,y) == 'blueKey') &&
walked[x][y] == undefined;
}
var getPath = function(goal, c, max, walked){
walked[c.x][c.y] = true;
map.setSquareColor(c.x, c.y, '#FFF');

var sol = [];

if(c.x == goal.x && c.y == goal.y){
sol.push({'x': c.x, 'y': c.y});

I came up with a cute solution to that one. I just had the robot mirror my movements.

>>

>>3292
haha, yeah, I'll admit that my solution is overkill. But I was pretty proud of the fact it worked on levels 11, 12 and 13.
Now that I look at it again, a year or two later, I find it absolutely disgusting.

What FOSS games do you play/like/recommend?

The only game I play sometimes is Brogue, a rogue-like you can play with keyboard or mouse, it's easy to learn (it's the Python of roguelikes), hard to beat, pretty chill for casual playing but can make you think about your next move for hours if you want to beat it. The coolest thing is that levels are generated randomly each time, like in nethack.
http://brogue.wikia.com/wiki/Brogue_Wiki
I remember seeing a similar game that was sci-fi themed, can't remember the name but it was closed source and still in development a year or two ago. It shouldn't be hard to make a cyberpunk Brogue fork, changing the creatures and item's names, right?

There's also Cave Story, if you like /cyb/ stuff your inner child will love Cave Story. The creator made other games too, but AFAIK CS is the only FOSS one.

P.S: there's also a thread for $0 games: >>2349

Anyone else play this? I remember seeing this game on this board a few months ago, but I can't find the thread again so I'm making a new one. Picked this up in a steam sale yesterday and so far I'm loving the fuarrrk out of it. Anyone have any good tips/tricks for optimization?

Dice rollRolled 84 - 1

I thought the whole idea of rolling in your post was to prove you were getting a random result when actually describing what you would do with it? I'm not insisting anyone stop, I just wanted to note that it seemed impratical to me personally for a thread of rolling to have so few posts reacting to the rolls. I'll of course roll and react to the result for the sake of appearing consistent.

This sounds neat, I'd like a druid that basically acts like a forest-dwelling rouge, entertwining the druid's path of rejecting society in favor of the wilds with a bandit's disregard for the stability of social order. It'd be a neat way to round out a team of criminals. Also, an excuse to be a magical drug dealer.
>magic hallucinogens that sometimes summon actual monsters to act out their role in the hallucination
>can also randomly dimension door the affected, sometimes without them even noticing the movement

Well, I have a hard time getting the idea of just being Batman Return's Catwoman out of my head. But hey, why not be a vaguely art deco cat man in a fantasy setting? Plus I probably get to use a few stolen magic artifacts that I could maybe choose to fit the theme.

WHATS UP LAINONS
WANT TO PLAY SOME FUARRRKING DOOM?

REGULARLY?

I'm setting up a Doom server for lainchan. I already tested it, and it seems to work, but playing with vanilla maps is a little boring.

To keep it in the lainchan style, what cyberpunk doom maps are there?
What game modes would you like to play? (coop, deathmatch)
Any gameplay wads of note?

Keep in mind each user has to download all of these files to play, so we should keep it light.
Unless, of course, if we can have it set up to automatically download the needed files.

Server info (for now) is:

The most I know of is one being worked on, briefly, by someone on 4ch/vr/. Which I think is dead.

Beyond that, we'd need to hack it up ourselves... Hm. That could be interesting.

Whats you're favorite Megaman game?
So far mine has to be Zero 2 at the moment, its hard as soykaf but its feels very satisfying to clear a stage after dying to the boss so many times.

Classic: 2, 4, 6, 9
X: X1-X4
Legends, Legends 2, Tron Bonne
And the Zero games were alright, 4 was kinda too easy and short though.

How is Tron Bonne
I had a chance to get it early this year but the price tag I saw on the game was around $150, so I passed up on it.

Either Legends 2 or Battle Network 3. If I had to pick a side scroller, maybe 8, or X4. I played all of the series growing up except for X8, Star Force, SNES era X games, and some of the later Zero series. Since then I've only gone back to play X 1-3, but I want to try Star Force some time.

If I had to name a least favorite, probably Chip Challenge or X7.

>>

MM9, MMX4, MMX1, MML2, and MM3

Probably in that order.

>>3272

Misadventures of Tron Bonne went up on PSN earlier this year. So did Legends 1, but no sign of 2 yet.

Yeah I saw the Tron Bonne game on PSN, but I'm not a real fan of digital copies, and already have MML1 on PS1.
May emulate Tron Bonne instead.

Stick to the classics. Jet Set Radio may not be /cyb/ in the traditional sense, but it's definitely a cool spin on a tech-integrated future.

Chaotic Neutral- A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it. Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal. However, chaotic neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all authority, harmony, and order in society.
