so I'm doing comp-sci at uni and we've got this PDP module to do, piss easy make an e-portfolio and do a group presentation. got the portfolio done in a week just need to get the group soykaf done.

all we need to do is talk about a website we are making. That's fine we divide up the work and get to it. Except no one gets to it apart from me. I've written every ones talk for them done the presentation slides, and I need to fill in for the guy who's supposed to be writing the site content 'cause he's a fuarrrking no show most days but the rest aren't much better, they are literally never all in on the same day. The whole thing is to be in for next friday and I've only just got the guy who was meant to be writing the html for the site to send it to me so I can dump some bare bones content into it except he's a fuarrrking goon and instead of sending me an email with a folder attached full of html files like a real human being might do he's sent me 25 emails linking to his fuarrrking private uni cloud storage thing which I don't have access to. so now I've got to do the whole fuarrrking site my self as well.
the only thing I haven't done is the report that goes along with it, and they guy doing that has given my no detail about his progress on it other than "fine".

and you know the worst part fuarrrking part is? all they talk about when they actualy are in is how much fuarrrking fallout 4 they are playing while I'm busting my fuarrrking chops doing their fuarrrking work for them fuarrrking cunts

I swear to fuarrrk if we fail this because one of those dosey scum sucking glitterboys cant be arsed to turn up on the day I'm going to flip my soykaf .

you fuarrrked up anon because now they'll soykaf all their work on you

the problem is I'm not much of an outgoing guy so didn't try and take charge at the start, no one else did either leading to this. needless to say I will not make the same mistake twice. first by never working with any of these fuarrrkers again.

They'll end up making it better than you do, then, because they sound like upper management material.

I doubt it, one of them maybe but two look like sickly lepers and the other looks so much like the tips fedora guy it's not even funny

I never had any problems like this. Did you choose your partners?

>>

Right now i'm in a similar situation, except i'm the one who didn't do my part for a team assignment. Well I did some of it. It's some bull soykaf in a CRM program I can't even begin to understand and what I did do, I didn't get right after doing it till three in the morning.

I feel like total scum right now but I just have so much other stuff that is more pressing...

Can you just report the situation to the teacher? It happened to me as well, I barely passed since my other grades were just good, but the others lost an entire semester due to it.

My bad. They lost an entire year. They were four, and two of them didn't manage to graduate.

You could talk about this with your teacher as said earlier; maybe you could finish the work alone (in a group of 1) or something, specially if the group was chosen for you.

If that's impossible, just suck it up and finish the work according to the grade you want to get / need. Just do whatever it takes to not get in a group with them later, the "you cannot choose who'll you work with in RL" is BS, because if someone refuses to do his part on a job, he gets fired, simple as that.

The thing is that, specially when you are on college, you should be more preocupied about networking with like-minded individuals, working on your own portfolio and maybe causing a good impression on the teachers for future recommendations.

Finally, don't understimate the importance of networking with the right people, hell, just don't associate too much with the MLG420 losers and it'll be ok. At the least, you'll get someone to talk/group with.

I stopped doing group projects in CS because nobody else could code.

I tried to manage it from the beginning, hosted hackathons with snacks, but the code they wrote was just useless. Ended up having to do everything myself anyway.

So next year I just worked alone. Lonelier, but easier.

That sort of thing happened to me in every single group project I ever did at uni. I don't understand it because I normally didnt even get above average marks, but by sheer luck whenever i'm in a group I get put with the future drop out students, or so it seems.

Oh actually once there was a girl in my physics group and she just did everything prematurely without telling anyone and sent us the report, that was weird/nice.

Welcome to the real world, OP.

If you're mad now, just wait until they all get cushy, steady, well-paying jobs with great opportunities, because they met some dude on Halo, and in the meantime you're struggling to get your github page up to scratch to score an entry-level position at a crappy company that overworks you and only pays you when the boss has money left over from his vacationing.

I had situations like this before. Got assigned to a group with my friend who actually did soykaf and a group of losers. That was in high school, but most of the school projects I did were the same - shitty people assigned with me who thought they would do their part by copy-pasting Wikipedia and not even removing the citations.

Currently studying something other than CS (tried CS at a shitty university, got depressed, dropped out), I've got a networking project, we had to configure a router. I was the only one able to do it and fine with that, but we had to write a report with screenshots. One girl declared that she would, but kept making a fuss and didn't understand that the computers start lagging hard if they're plugged out the Internet (because Active Directory shit). "Why can't you just open Word, geeeeeez", no, I actually CAN'T, because this PIECE OF soykaf LAGS. Arrrgghhhh.
At least the PDF she made looked good, but I bet I could make a better one.

This happened to me in a way, I always feel my code/skills is/are not enough, so I end up doing nothing while people who just mash their heads on keyboards (and actually cheat at programming exams) manage to pass CS and/or are hired.

Don't let a few slacker dipshits ruin your perception of teamwork in general. There are some good people out there to work with, you just have to find them first.

Friend that I literally carried through his uni degree did this. Took 4 years to do his 3 year degree because he fuarkked up so hard in a couple courses, I did all the work when we had to do group exercises etc.
Explained soykaf to him every step of the way, pretty much gave him my code in doing so, and because he's more personable than me he is now hired and I'm stuck in a fuarrrking supermarket.
Where can I get a job where I just keep my head down and write good code? So many client-facing jobs available, but I'll never get those. Shit's frustrating.

next time I need a group I'm going to be much more proactive about picking who I'm with, namely by poaching any 40+ year olds, they are far more likely to just get it done.

Dictate the interfaces and contain their code to within those interfaces. Do not care how ugly their code is as long as it fulfills their contracts.
Basically don't let their code touch yours.

You don't understand. This was for a simple toy chatbot project and they were doing soykaf like writing dozens deep if else trees to implement a state machine... For input that could be arbitrarily large. They literally did not know how to program and there's no amount of isolation I could induce to fix that.

just an update I've emailed the cunts their work, one of them wasn't in as predicted so I had get his uni email don't even know if I got the right guy. and none of them have emailed me back any way so I'm going to have to hope like fuarrrk they come in tomorrow they won't just to check they even got it.

I've been having such a good year and these fuarrrkers are ruining it, I'm not sure I can keep from having an autistic spazz out much longer
