Here you can be easily in college even after 28 if you are doing Phd or something. I'm 26 by the way, but not in school for year already but I regret it much.

You better enter the circle of this modern, virtual survival game as late as possible.

I'm 22. Dropped out of college when I was 18 after bombing for the a year(graduated early from high school). Started working and went back to a local college near where I worked since they had a pretty cool program for inspection.

It's funny, I used to think life was really structured but it only recently clicked on me that I'm basically in free roam and not tutorial mode anymore. It's both liberating and stressful since I'm wholly responsible for where I go from here.

banning people, especially publicly, for admitting their age will only encourage them to lie. On the other hand, we can't just allow underageB&s to blatantly hang around the site. a predicament indeed.

There's one in every thread.
The reasoning behind banning underaged posters isn't deeply-ingrained imageboard 'discrimination' or 'ageism' (and it sure isn't arbitrary), it's about abiding by the federal age of majority laws. Kalyx could get in serious legal trouble if he was caught knowingly exposing underaged users to adult content and turning a blind eye.
Because website age verification hasn't evolved to the level of crosschecking computer biometrics with individual records yet (thank god J. Edgar Hoover's dead and buried), there's no convenient way for a webmaster to tell if somebody's legally considered underaged unless they outright admit that they are.

Additionally, there is no incentive for anyone to pursue legal action. And that is only possible if they can physically locate the people running this web site.

There were a case about a mother on 4chan whose son she'd caught watching porn on the site in 2007 (give or take two years). She threatened a lawsuit which could have held some water in court. There's probably something about it in the 'History of Forumboards' document.
Asking seventeen year-old posters not to share their honest age isn't demanding a lot anyways. There's absolutely no reason for underaged posters to feel discriminated against in any way.

So I take it you haven't been given your leave date yet. Also in reality thats not a real swear in you can still back out all the way up to the real swear in that happens on your leave date, even when you sign your contract you can still tell your recruiter that you changed your mind. But once you get to the swear in on your leave date thats it theres no turning back.
Not trying to convince you to not join just letting you know since sometimes recruiters will most of the time tell you half truths so they can get you to stay.

Just some advise because most people I met going into the military are never told the full truth of the matter, and career councilors will often times try to throw you in a job you don't want just so they can get you out of the way and get done with their work faster.
I don't want to see someone going into the same field as me getting screwed over and placed in a soykaf job. Also another bit of advise is that if your recruiter does try to put you in a job you don't want or wasn't on your list of jobs you wanted you can just tell them you'll wait until they can secure you a job that you want.
I don't mean any offense by me telling you this, its just information that gets passed on from newly enlisted to people looking to join just to make sure we don't get screwed too hard.

>>

ID: f21bab No.18375

That can't be right. If you sign DD Form 4 you are obligated service, period.

If you know someone who got out of their contract then they more than likely managed it by not being fit for duty or medically ready. If you only heard this you should verify your source, otherwise it bum gouge. Swear ins are only words, paper is binding.

>>18376
I still disagree with you. >>

ID: 8e1775 No.18378

>>18375
The contract you're given doesn't actually take effect until the day you leave and your given a packet that has your orders in it.
Once you're given that packet you will be asked if you are sure this is what you want and are given a chance to leave, and once you step into the swear in room and swear in your life as a civilian is over and you are now part of the armed service.

My source I got sit in on one as well after my with my medical examines.
Also a friend in the Army told me the samething when he swore in last year.

>>

ID: 74b900 No.18385

>>18378
The oath of enlistment doesn't mean for soykaf outside of DD Form 4 (Section H - Confirmation of Enlistment, which you sign to validate you gave the oath).

It's the same form you sign to enter DEP, switch from DEP/to active/reserve duty, and is the oft referred to "dotted line". The oath means nothing outside of the signatures on that form saying you gave the oath. You typically sign it after giving the oath, but if you didn't you should probably read things before signing them.

My source is USC Title 10 Part 2 Chapter 31, DD Form 4, and myself as enlisted.

>>

ID: 8e1775 No.18386

>>18385
Well I guess things changed because I sat in on one 3 months ago and the officer giving the instructions said that you can turn back right now but once you go in the room to take your oath thats it, like I said it was even the same when my friend went into the Army last year. He could leave all the way up to the point where he had to swear in and after he swore in he was on his way to BMT.
On my DD Form 4 the purpose of this contract is
>To determine enlistment/commissioning eligibility, and process qualified applicants. To determine classification and assignment actions after enlistment or commissioning, to include benefits and entitlements.
DD4 doesn't mean anything other than promising you that you are going in with the rank and job you are qualified for.

They'll still ban your ass for admitting you're underaged. Feel free to test the waters.
> does not really believe a ip ban stop anybody
It's meant to discourage users from evading. Of course it isn't difficult to duck it, everybody knows that (including the staff). Are you implying that you're evading a ban?
Individual IP bans are really all they've got. Range bans aren't going to ensue because somebody thought he was schway for being on an imageboard under 18.

25, graduated 2 years ago and working.
I hate my job but it's the first time I've had real money in my life, so it's nice too.

18 years, senior in high school. College apps, college apps, college apps. I want to do comp sci and ideally minor in linguistics. They're the two most interesting fields I've found and I love them. Looks like I'll even be able to skip the first two years of Chinese courses because I took them at a local college. I'm happy, but I've always struggled keeping my grades up (my standardized test scores are high so I'll get into college), so I hope I can fix that in college. At least I already know a pretty decent amount of programming.

If you're standardized test scores are good enough, and you know enough programming to build a portfolio it's possible some smaller schools with play for you to attend them. A friend of mine did that, and they paid for his housing and food as well, he had a 35 on his ACT and a 3.5, though.

I should probably try to build a portfolio more formally, but I have all the work that teachers throw at you, specifically in classes that are fairly useless. I'm never going to critique literature but I'm required to know how.

Did you perhaps go to a private school?

Nope. Public school. Took a lot of honors courses though.

Also our district at least requires four years of English. Which amounts to literary analysis essays.
