Honestly research will always be a profession as long as one group of people want to edge out another group and math just applies to everything. However I'm cheating because I'm about to get my degree in EE. So, I'd be qualified for those jobs in three months anyway.
Now a job with only 3 months of training, I'd say electrician. Honestly there is always going to need to be someone that wires up building and maintains the electric grid.
At least until free energy is invented.
