ID: 3652a5 No.16502

If you want to chat, you have to lead the conversation. Do you have anything interesting to say?

I watched Lain too long ago to remember anything.

I don't know what to say interesting.

I think my English is not good. What do you think about my English?

>>

ID: c060f6 No.16504

I can try to tell about myself.

>>

I'm student of Institute applied mathematics and computer science. My specialty is Computer Scince and Engineering. In my free time i spend my time in Internet. ^^ I watch anime and have MAL.

I could tell you're not comfortable with it even if you didn't mention you're still learning. I can understand everything you're saying, but it's definitely awkward. I suggest reading a lot of visual novels and watching anime with English subs to get practice. Lurking imageboards is also good.

I'm usually watch anime with Russian subs... But i can try with English. It's good suggestion. Thanks.

I've played only a few. I'd recommend Saya no Uta if you are new to the medium. It's short, good and easy to get.

>>16510
I speak Portuguese too. Where are you from friend?

I have installed on my computer Katawa Shoujo. But i installed it with Russian translation. Also Steins;Gate, but it's have no nice Russian translation and i shall play on English.

>>

ID: 3652a5 No.16514

>>16513
Play Katawa Shoujo in English too. It's the language it was originally written in, and the Russian translation is probably garbage. You lose a lot with translations.

>>

ID: 3652a5 No.16515

>>16514
In the case of stuff that's originally written in Japanese, those are often translated to other languages by using the English translation rather than the original text, so it's twice as bad.

ID: c060f6 No.16516

Really? Wait... Do you speak Russian?

No, I'm just guessing from my experience with Portuguese translations. Maybe Russian translations are better, but I doubt it.

Talking to people on mumble/skype/whichever platform helps if you want to improve your pronouncement. Reading/watching movies/listening to music and whatnot in English helps as well, you can also try the irc.

Is the IRC still actual?

of course, even lainchan has a channel on freenode #lainchan

Ok. I'm using jabber, usually.

Mumble, too! The server is lainchan.org Not too many people idle there, so if you want to talk to someone on there you'll have to arrange, most likely on here or IRC.

you two could find a buddy on the interwebs (or even in this thread) from USAUSAUSA!!! and ask him to add you on tox/jabber/whatever

Which is why you speak with a native speaker, as long as you are willing to be corrected a little.

They can correct your English grammar or spelling, tell you a different way to say something, or just help you practice having a more neutral accent. :3

I agree, the thing is that I'm also very shy.

There's no reason to be shy when you're anonymous

try irc/jabber/tox then if you just want to write, that can't be too hard, right?

Hello, another non-native here. I've got a question. You have some rules for placing commas?(dem sneaky flammingbois never taught us anything about it at school). Honestly, I consider my English to be pretty poor, cause I've been falling almost every test since high school. I'd love to talk with someone who could point out my mistakes(I have slight problem with articulating my opinions too, like I literally can't write 'em in English).
I am >pic related
if that matters

>>

ID: bf7947 No.17359

>>17356
Well the general rule is to put them where you'd put a pause while speaking. I suppose that's not much use if you're not fluent already though. Also don't use them to join two complete sentences; that's what semicolons are for.

>>

ID: d9edff No.17368

>>17359
damn, in my language we use commas to join two complete sentences. Anyway, thanks. I think I need to watch every movie available to learn it.
