First let me say to those who have been waiting for the Hackers stream: Sorry. I promise I will do it soon, but at the moment I don't want to give an exact date. As for those who didn't know Lainchan has a live stream: It does, but it has mainly just been me doing them. Even then only few and far between, however I hope to fix that with this thread.

As of today I am looking for anyone who would be willing to do streams with me. At the moment I am only looking for 3-5 people with the possibility of adding more over time. The only real requirement is having a suitable upload speed, but this depends on what you are streaming and is on a case by case basis. Once I get enough people we will work out time slots, and hopefully solve the problem of euros not being able to watch due to time zones.

Do you have a website made that you host? Are you using libvpx'd ffmpeg +
ffserver? If so, you should make the site use an ogg/vorbis WebM video stream
and an IRC embed that either connects to lainchan's IRC or a stream-specific
channel (like "#lainstream") since not everyone would bother with using
Livestreamer to circumvent a harmful Flash-based stream player.

At the moment I am trying to get mpeg-dash to work but I am not having a huge success with it. Also I am using nimble streamer, because both RTMP module for nginx and ffserver aren't very good for a long term solution. Each has different problems and very little support.

If you want to be able to stream at least 720p you will need roughly 3 Megabits or 384 Kilobytes per second.

When you say "do streams with me", what do you mean? Get on mic with you, help stream it to reach a wider audience, help you with stream content, what?

I'm just not sure of the direction these streams will be going

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do, but I've had success with streaming video in the past with http://instasync.com/

If you want to stream audio I would suggest Airtime by SourceFabric. $10 a month gets you a dedicated audio server.

UPDATE:
I have found about 4 people who are willing to help and we are working on a schedule (STILL LOOKING FOR AT LEAST ONE MORE PERSON!). We should be using the schedule by next week, and I am working on a new website for us to use. I will post the schedule once we get everyone on some kind of time slot.

Before anyone says anything about moving to an entirely different site, let me say that I have been talking with kalyx. We are still lainchan, but it makes more sense for us to use our own resources and keep the strain off of lainchan itself.

In the meantime enjoy whatever streams goes on for now.
