I'm so tired of zombies. Everything about them has been played out. According to Google Trends, the term peaked around 2012 and has remained high ever since. Every slacker idiot on the internet is obsessed with planning for the zombie apocalypse that's never going to happen. Wanna know why? It's because ZOMBIES AREN'T REAL. There are movies with fast zombies, slow zombies, Nazi zombies and white zombies. It never ends. There's even a TV series about a zombie crime drama called "iZombie," where a zombie helps solve crimes by secretly snacking on corpses delivered to the corner's office. Because the corner would never notice that the third lagerst organ in the human body was missing during an autopsy. Hollywood has even become self-aware of the outbreak of zombies movies, so each movie comes out with its own different name for zombies to try and distance themselves from every other zombie movie or TV show. For example, in "The Walking Dead," they call zombies "walkers," "geeks," "roamers," "biters," "rotters," and any other stupid name they can come up with to avoid the "Z" word. And in "28 Days Later," they call them "infected." And in the video game "The Last of Us," they call them "runners," "stalkers," "clickers," and "bloaters." Just call them zombies, you assholes. You're not tricking anyone.

the gun industry started catering to those "survivalists" that became engrossed in preparing for the zombie apocalypse. same as with preppers, they're good for business because they, and i can't stress this enough, BUY soykaf that is being sold.

What is the general opinion on this site on the use of iPads and iOS using products in general. I know kalyx uses macs so I would figure that there wouldn't be as much animosity towards them as other communities like this one.
Also for those that do use these types of products what software do you use to improve your experience on them?

Agreed. I think that the "free software absolutists" as >>18031 terms them are a problem.

Why? Well, not necessarily because of the ideals that they have. Their ideals are good. It is how they treat others and implement them.
Take their stance on OS X, for example. They don't want you to use it at all; they'd rather you use GNU/Linux with nothing proprietary.
But tell me, how many people will go straight from Windows and having everything of theirs proprietary (from their OS to their browser to their programs) to having nothing proprietary?
Relatively no one. Oh, I am sure there are some of you on here that have done that. You are irregular. Normal people don't do that.

And thus you shall fail. The majority will usually win. And if the majority doesn't care? Then we all lose.
Ease people into things. Have people on Windows start with even simple things, like using Firefox instead of Chrome, and maybe using some free as in freedom and as in beer software.
Have people using OS X also use free software that is available to them, and show them how some of what Apple does is open source, and how open source benefits them (even if it is JUST open source, and not free software.)
If you want someone to run a marathon, you don't just drop them off at the starting line and tell them to begin, you help them train.

All good points. I'm one of those OSX users that uses open source software on it whenever possible.

One nice thing about OSX is how it's relatively easy to port Linux-originated software to it, in contrast to Windows. OSX is at least properly POSIX.

In total I have about 9k saved but that's for my education. Usually I save what I can from work and pay my tuition off from there and try not to touch savings. A semester is about $811 which is pretty darn cheap.

I did the calculations and since I have 3 semesters left at ~800 each plus books I need about 3 grand total so I'm covered for now.

Since threads, and therefore links on chan boards eventually get 404d, maybe a section that takes literature from variously themed threads (soc eng, babby's first lamb, intro to EE, so on and so forth) and take those PDF's/epubs/txt, whatever, and have those on a sort of lit section? Just another place to reproduce and redistribute useful knowledge, since it seems like you aim for providing information. Just an idea, I think you are working towards a quality information based site, and that might work well!

I don't make friends and if I do some how end up with some I have no problems cutting off all communications with them whenever it suits me. The amount of education. My mother heard something about it and researched it. Brought it up to me a bit and then talked to the Doctor about it when I was there for my physical, but I denied I had any such thing, even though I didn't really have any good idea what it was. Why? Well, reading them and seeing that I fit every single criterion made me start thinking. Thus, my attitude change, and when I went back in to see my doctor, he and I had a serious discussion about it, and I got a diagnosis.

Life has improved greatly since then, and I am close to getting my 4.0, if I just don't mess up on anything from here out.

My depression has increased dramatically in the past two months. My girlfriend is saying that she is tired of me, and I'm scared of being alone. Yet she also says that she'll love me no matter what, and that she won't leave me. I believe her, but that doesn't stop me from feeling like crap. And she gets really upset when I talk to her about my issues. But at least I have a therapist, and that helps me a lot.
