I'm not going to leave lainchan over kalyx's antics as long as the site and community is still functional. But for people who don't use the IRC/aren't involved with the staff in some way/don't have kalyx's sense of humor, this is just annoying.

If this is just a ploy to get users to noscript, that's great. But there are better, subtler ways to go about it than a shitty autoplay meme.

I'm not sure this is fair. On the whole, I think kalyx has done good by making lainchan, since a lot of sensible and intelligent people seemed to have gathered here. Personally /drg/ has helped me extensively by providing me advice and varying perspectives and experiences. But I think I share a little of this guy's frustration with kalyx.

I can't speak for all of lainchan, but I think the autoplay soykaf represents the IRC more than the chan, which is a bad thing.
