I'm curious, lainchan: where do you get your physical books? Your local library, bookstores, flea markets, online? New/used?
>>

 No.467

Local library, and I get some new ones as gifts from time to time, which I later trade for other used books which I later trade.

Depends what I am getting the book for. Is it for a class I am taking? Usually online. Is it for research? Local library.

Pleasure books to add to my collection? A combination of garage sales, thrift shops, flea markets, etc. Wherever I can get them at a good price.

I get books that I want to read but don't necessarily have the money to buy at the local library, too…

Flea markets, used book-stores, and trading.

There libraries where I live are very small and don't really cater to my tastes. I don't have anyone to trade with either ;_; , so I have to buy most of my books - I prefer used bookstores. If I can't get what I want there I order a new copy from a regular store. Support your local dealer, fuck amazon and all that jazz.

I've been buying online recently, not from Amazon but from bookdepository. They've had better prices than Amazon on a few items and they don't region lock you.

I know Amazon are starting a Netflix-style book rental service soon. I'm not too sure if it allows for the rental of physical copies but may be something worth looking into.

Why don't you support your local bookstores for buying/trading books?
Do you really need a drone to take them to your door?

>>

 No.514

Local library or the one of my university, used book stores, sometimes normal bookstores too, rarely Amazon.

>>

 No.517

If I'm looking for a particular book I buy it new from a bookstore.
I also look at random stuff in second-hand bookstores, I love to find some hidden treasure.
Most public libraries here are shit.

Second-hand bookshops are a goldmine, and I'm fortunate enough to live somewhere with quite a lot.

Bookdepository or local used bookstores.

For random stuff I either buy it at local stores if they are cheap enough or download them at libgen. If I know a title already well enough then I just order it from BD.

I have the cutest little thing just down the block.
My town's an hour and a half from the nearest library, so the larger city's rotary club pitched in and built this to serve us locals.
It operates on the same idea as those "Take a penny, leave a penny" dishes at grocery stores and is half children's books and young adult and half assorted novels.

I found one like those where I live, but it was full of pedagogical material for teachers.

Flea market,hand-me-downs, or buy from the internet.Search thoroughly, just saved $90 and found the latest version of a book i wanted.

 No.1787

Thrift stores, flea markets for buying of random fiction I want.

https://www.gutenberg.org give out all books that are no longer under copyright as ebooks, a lot of classic books. That site is the main reason I got an e-reader.

If I want to read a specific book I might be it online because the Vegas odds are that my local bookstore won't have it

We have these but bigger, great for unloading all the books you don't want any more and getting some new ones.

There's a bookstore that specializes in under cutting the campus book store. When they have books that don't sell, they put them on a give away table. I also go to the library.

Bookstore, I don't like read on the computer so I always buy my books there. The computer/programming/unix related I buy it online because the best are in English and I'm not a native speaker so in the bookstores there's not book of those topics in English.
