This #2 release is by far 10000X better than the first. The art, typesetting, and content is pretty awesome. Download your copy

That cover is schway as fuarrrk

>Vandalize something. Hate someone? Pour sugar in their gas tank, or key their car.
It was kinda neat up until this crap. If someone truly deserves some soykaf then fine, but you just don't fuarrrk with another mans automobile.

>>

 No.1884

>>1883
well it does say "hate someone?". implying this is something you do to someone you hate.

>>1882
it really is. Props to ivan and\or junk or whoever designed the cover.

also i believe the art came from the >>>/art/ databending thread.

i loved what pieces chosen to start off the volume.

>>

 No.1886

This one was even better than the last one, nice job everyone.

 No.1887

Just finished reading. This was SO good.

I was highly critical of the last lainzine (maybe unfairly so) but this was a significant improvement.

The only article I thought was outright bad was Untitled. I could forgive that the author isn't particularly good at telling a story, I don't expect most lainons to be award-winning authors, but there wasn't even a point to the story. I at least expected an ending of some significance. The way the author kept referring to guns made me think that an innocent person was going to be shot and killed accidentally during a break-in, which would have made for an interesting tale if true. Maybe the fact that an innocent person went to jail was supposed to be the moral but if so, it wasn't written well enough that I cared at all.

Anyway I don't want to be entirely negative, this issue was fantastic, and I would especially love to speak to the author of "The Way of Schway". What a brilliant article that was.

Long rice FTW m8.

 No.1890

This one renders quite fast even on the shıttiest of my machines. I guess it makes it at least a tad better than the first one.

The typesetting looks fancy. The content... cannot be fuсked to read tbh. Tired of everything.

 No.1895

>>1881
Damn, this article was pretty damn cool. Liked everything I read a whole bunch, and I'll do my best to participate in the making of the next issue of it.

>>1887
Regarding Untitled, the Lainon was asked to share his experiences in a thread somewhere, so he posted it to the zine. Hard to complain about real life having no moral at the end, and sometimes, things like that work really well by punching you in the face by playing with the expectations. (An example of that which I enjoyed would be the movie Funny Games).

I wouldn't say that it was badly written, either. It served its purpose completely, and it was interesting to read about his experiences, though that is definitely not objective.

>>

 No.1896

>>1895
I have to agree with the other anon. It wasn't particularly engaging, and honestly, it felt out of place given the theme of the zine. The rest of the content is great though, except perhaps including the purchasing of drugs and going on revenge attacks as "shenanigans and fun" in Night Ops article.

Anyone have lainzine 1 still?

hoping my submission will make it to the next release

 No.1914

Did you clear the anonymous articles with their authors, and not just plagiarize some of them like it appears you did?

>>

 No.1915

There was some good articles but some of them felt out of place and angst. The opening article was fun to read and I like the stories of the guy that was robbing homes.

Needs more coding articles though.

 No.1916

>>1914
which anonymous articles are you referring to? when submitting a article you place who to credit if you want credit

>>

 No.1929

Goo goo g'joob
way better than the first issue, regarding it's visual appeal.
I'm proud

>>

 No.1934

every article was original content created for the lainzine, anonymous authors just preferred not to have their names attached

The zine link on the blotter appears to be accidentally replaced with /$$/ content so in the interim you can download Lainzine 2 from here:
https://lainchan.org/zine/2015-08-28.pdf
Also uploaded it just in case.

I wonder when the Lainzine 3 thread is going to come up.

Version control with gitlab is going to be used from now on, apparently.

>>

 No.2034

Totally hypothetical right now, but would there be any chance that the Lainzine could be printed if there were distributors willing to publish it?

>>

 No.2038

>>2034
yes. I have been looking for the best way to print them for lainchan. Do you have any suggestions?

>>

 No.2049

Would anyone like to have these seeded on i2p? Is there an official torrent?

>>

 No.2061

Question to designers of the 02 issue:
How pictures for zine were processed? I like that pixelized, C64 filter. How did you do it? in gimp? online? with special software?

>>

 No.2065

>>2061
Most of the art was made using the experimental functions of the Glitch Cruiser, found here:
http://jkirchartz.com/Glitchy3bitdither/GlitchCruiser.html

I found a base image, then fed it through the engine a bunch of times, saved images that i wanted to branch off from, and then ran it through a bunch more filters and aesthetics till it spat out something cool.

>>

 No.2066

>>2061
the C64 filter in question is called dither8Bit

 No.2068

there is no official torrent but it would be cool if you made one for i2p.

>>

 No.2084

>>1881

I was wondering if >>>2076 could go into the zine of the author consented. It was a very cool story.

>>

 No.2085

>>2084
Cant seem to do cross-thread linking, but the story is in the "tell lain a story" thread.

>>

 No.2086

>>2084
what? i dont understand what your asking.

its like this

>>>/lit/2076

>>

 No.2087

>>2086
So that is how you do it.

If the author was ok with it, I think that would be a cool thing to put in lainzine 3.

>>

 No.2101

>>1883
Yeah that bit didn't really fit, it didn't feel cyberpunk or lain-y, just sounded like being an asshole.

>>

 No.2102

Catching a 404 on the lain link, also not able to access the lainzine pdf files that have been linked to in this thread. Did the zine go down for some reason?

>>

 No.2106

>>2102
The link is dead for me too. But the PDFs work fine.
