Yes indeed!

There are some decent "intro to biohacking" courses on coursera.

Can anyone post some good beginner equipment?

Does rodent breeding for particular (and hilarious) purposes count?

Necrobump for a sick topic. Considering getting an M31 from dangerous things. What other body modifications are there other than RFID and magnets?

What was the name of that chick from the UK that put random tech under her skin? No doctors would do it so she just numbed her body with ice and operated herself.

Interesting question. I cannnot imagine what otherkind of implants would one need.
I just use wired headphones to locate badly configured wireless networks. Those are easier to crack into.

Lepht Anonym. She's hella cute and quirky but has tons of mental issues and is on tons of medication.

from her blog "i finally got my arse in gear and installed Linux back onto this machine."

she's pretty cool imo.

There is a thread on biohack.me about the use of gene therapy to expand the spectrum of visible light. Seems schway and it'll be cool to see where this goes.

I thought contact lenses would suffice, and then I found this. Seems I'll be a candidate for UV vision .__.

There was a kickstarter for a project about using a certain type of vitamin A supplement to allow you to see in near infrared. Probably less risk of dying horribly from eye cancer.

Yes, reportedly the guinea igs have severe side-effects, not worth it.

i would be interested in getting into biohacking sometime

it's not black magic from what i hear and i kinda like biology even though it tends to be a bit of a bitch

there was this german chaosradio express podcast about the topic and it's one of the worst episodes because the tim prittlove guy could not get a grip on the topic, but when i listened to it i was laughing sometimes because i was like "yeah i remember that from school" and "oh so thats how they do it" while he was so confused

i feel like i need my own job and place first before i start meddling with hardware hacking and biohacking and so on but i'm definitely interested in your findings about biohacking

i will watch the videos here sometimes thanks

It is people like this who deserve more recognition rather than people whining about profits and art.
http://pingmag.jp/2007/12/07/nakamura/

There was something similar to the above article on the NHK a couple years ago about a guy who started a prosthesis shop in Tokyo. Making a living was the first goal, everything else came second. Profit and philanthropy are not mutually exclusive and the latter follows the former more often than not. The problem is that such successful endeavours take years of sustained effort and concentration which is hard to sustain without proper cashflow.

Biohacking is super schway. I'm studying biology right now, so I might be interested in doing some of this in the future (as in, either helping others get it, or getting it for myself if enough documentation exists.)

Think about what would happen... The technology is either already here, or is not too far off (depending on what you want, that is.)
