Since the UK govt has tapped the very cables leading to and from residents' islands and intercepts everything, is any attempt at privacy futile besides in protecting against third-party tracking in the browser?

I would just move. Can't you euros travel freely? Go to Germany, Netherlands, or Denmark.

encryption?
also vote against the idiots who did this to you

>>

 No.19852

Obviously not since encryption works sometimes?

But yes "they" (e.g. GCHQ) can see- and read- your DNS which is plain text, so they know what sites you visit. Except if you have a clue and use a VPN or the tor dns thing, which effectively puts a cryptographic tunnel around ALL your traffic.

And yes HTTPS is insecure and they try to get all the keys from all the companies and decrypt all the encrypted traffic they stored for a long time and so on. That is why your HTTPS connection should use "perfect forward secrecy".

It's better there but the real issue with the GCHQ sitting on the cables is that they can see fuarrrking everything from everyone because it all goes to USA sooner or later

That's what I thought but read:

"In other words, Snowden says, one can only prevent GCHQ from accessing their data if they do not send any information through British Internet lines or servers. However, German Internet experts believe this would be almost impossible in practice."

You're implying there is any difference between either of the 2 major parties.

Read it and weep.
Everything is backdoored. Even if the math is strong, we must assume that popular applications are backdoored(includes windows). Better audit/compile all your stuff.

Isn't the UK the only Euro country doing extensive spying? Usually America does it for the rest of Europe that is willing to pay (Which they happily do.)

If I was a Euro I would stay away from the UK. Their spying and laws are going well beyond the States.

It's kind of interesting how deeply the notion of voting as a politically-significant action is ingrained in the Western democratic states, when political change has never been accomplished through voting.

History ended after the American Revolution/French Revolution.
