Would any of you like to organize a sneakernet? I'm too lowlife to have internet at my home, but I'd like some soykaf to watch and read every once in a while.

To start, I can share my humble eBook library of 300+ books (I'd like more, btw, don't care what subject it is), 480p recordings of Serial Experiments Lain, and Akame Ga Kill, BBC's "Century of the Self" documentary series, a database of all books in Library Genesis, among other things (I'll update the tread later, once I take a closer look at what I already have).

If you're interested, send an email to neet_in_training@teknik.io.

Does this sound like a good idea? Is it worth the risk associated with giving your address to strangers, even if it's a specific stranger such as myself?
Any other lainons that don't have internet at their place of residence?

I would be interested, possibly. I have internet at my place of residence but it is slow and firewalled (I can get past the firewalls easily but at the expense of speed, and I have not much of that to spare).

One problem could be location. I am in Eastern Europe, I bet you are pretty far away. Olus, heading to me, packages have a way of disappearing or taking absurdly long to get through the mail.

I don't know what country your in, so I used Serbia in my calculations.

According to the USPS[1], the cost of shipping would be $1.20.

I would consider $1.20 once or twice a month to send a USB drive overseas acceptable. The question is, would you be willing to send anything back?

Oh, I forgot. I live in the United States. You'll need to know that in order to calculate shipping costs.

why not setup pirateboxes?

I would be willing to send stuff back, if I had it. At present my collection of things that I would give is somewhat limited, and it may not be to your tastes. Do you like maps of planets? I have some pretty neat topographic maps if you are interested. . .

(I live in Romania, prices would be managable)

Actually, I can't bring USB drives to work, and I have no other source of internet, so I don't know how I'd get the software. I'd pay for a pre-assembled Piratebox though.

the one at https://piratebox.cc/ is pretty idiot proof. took me an hour or so to set it up. Nobody in my neighbourhood seems to have noticed, though.

Forgot to add my piratebox related idea. Wouldn't it be awesome for two pirateboxes to be able to share files with each other automatically. This would be nice if you have a couple friends with PBs so each time you meet your PBs exchange the newest pdfs and stuff automatically.

So... OP here. Would anyone like to send me the Piratebox software on a USB drive?

Looks like OP is out for the holiday. I sent my address, so if I don't get murdered, I'll let y'all know how it goes.

OP is back.

Sent me his address, and offered me some stuff. I'm probably going to buy a USB drive and send it to him tomorrow. Hopefully the postman does his job right. Maybe I'll pay a little more to get it tracked.

Not who you were replying to but those sound neat. Can you put them up somewhere for others?

Another West Coast fag here. I can't afford to send hard drives or flash drives, but I wouldn't mind compressing and encrypting a bunch of soykaf and splitting it between a couple DVDs.
