How can we resist the growing, global police state architecture? Should we write new software - libresoftware to promote privacy? Lainons, we should start a project to promote privacy either promote how to be more secure with information or start projects to help people become private. We could start web rings, or gather together people to start a mesh net, or embark on a journey of teaching those willing to listen NetSec, IT, programming, and crypto. But how will we start, Lainons? Webrings? Mail lists? Meeting in person?

> a project to promote privacy either promote how to be more secure with information or start projects to help people become private

you mean like the electronic frontier foundation?

for your other proposals, I seem to remember there are a lot of projects that try to help with those kind of things.

I get the NIH syndrome, but why not just help those existing projects instead of adding another one and further fragmenting the available info?

There are already a lot of pro-privacy, pro-freedom projects and movements out there that need help. Unless you can think of something that literally no one else is doing, you'd be better off lending a hand to an existing project.

What you're proposing is basically how Tox started (on a chan no less), but the idea was unique. The world doesn't need another -insert established project/organization here-. It needs more focus on the ones that already exist.

All we need is Morph.is and meshnets and then the citizenry needs to start using surveillance tactics on corrupt police and politicians.

In my case, I need to get better to really help... though it's kind of shitty that aside from software projects, nothing can be done sufficiently anonymously.

Never shut up.
Just never stop talking to people about it. Tell everyone. Talk to everyone.

Tech ignorance doesn't help. Some people just don't have the need to retain enough tech skills or understanding to affect their daily lives.

Talk to the people who can affect other people. Encourage group solutions (SSL/HTTPS, 2FA) that benefit everyone without directly engaging them.

Also yes to everything else you mentioned.

How about not setting up meetings, but having signs. Ones hidden in pop culture. The wondrous part of global police architecture is the fact that its base it more bureaucracy then anything, and bureaucracy is really good at half assing it. A lazy government is a good target as all bureaucracy become. So we just hide in plain sight. Make codes with series of images, or even just the right image in the right spot. Like a smiley face sticker in the right hand corner of a laptop, except exactly 1 cm away from the corner. Something that shows but will slip past bureaucrats.

well the ones that need swaying are the groups running these surveillance programs.

a not entirely true analogy, when communists began spying on other communists it all fell apart. when even the head honchos knew the fear it couldn't stay for long that way.

hopefully you get what im suggesting with this kind of bad analogy here.
