A day in the death of Joe Egg is a good drama, I'd recommend it to anyone who likes British dark comedy as well.

I don't know what you're talking about exactly anymore but the whole thing was about how coincidences can turn out and that there is "no country for old men" anymore in Texas (I think about it that way at least). As far as I know, western US was very different from eastern for a long time.

lucy really annoyed me by being full to the brim with really bad, cheesy peudoscience and because the protagonist was so overpowered the movie wasnt even fun anymore, and because there is not really a plot either

limitless was just about pills that give a dude mental superpowers, not much pseudo science involved except the usual bit of crap about the brain not being used at capacity

i can warmy recommend it because unlike lucy some really nice, FITTING visual things happen that reflect the protagonists trips really well

Sunshine (2007) should get you on OP, if you didn't already see it. There is a plot twist who got a lot of people pissed off but I didn't find it so bothering personally : Just see it as a clumsy but harmless shift in tension and rhythm.

Oh also, totally unrelated but my movie pictures folder was full of large png files, and I found this ImageMagick command online to convert all those in jpeg :

mogrify -format jpg *.png

This really is a... magic tool. huuurrrr :DD

I'm weird. I wouldn't mind a completely overpowered protagonist kicking ass for an entire movie without plot because I'm trash like that, but if the science or history is incorrect I'm pretty much done.

Actually, the science and history can be incorrect too if they give us a plausible explanation instead of, say, precolonial native americans with horses and Sioux headgear in the everglades like Lucy did. Or if the movie has established it's not taking itself seriously / meant to be realistic like superhero movies.

I am surprised that no one has seen "Fantastic Planet" (or "la planete sauvage"). A weird and disturbing sort of sci-fi animated french film from 1973. A great watch if you like that kind of stuff.

A lot of it is very heavy, but there is a deep, yet sad, sense of satisfaction after watching Million Dollar Baby or Unforgiven. i waited impatiently for the protagonist to finally reveal himself as the killer and when the movie played the classic "it was all a dream" card in a super lame way i thought this: dear movie, now please do something original instead of the "OHHH YOU THOUGHT EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW BUT LOOOOK EVERYTHING IS NOT FIIINNE BOOOHOO" ending. it did exactly that.the beginning was fun but it's a really soykaf movie i can't recommend at all.

The ending was great in my opinion. The speech from Pinhead about how humans destroy their spirituality through the means of flesh (just like cenobites do) makes it one of the better Hellraiser movies and fits the whole series really well, Barker writes about these issues a lot in his books.

Well, the OP did say that he purposefully left out some movies, and it's not unlikely that the first two Alien movies were among those.

Still, I'd say that Prometheus gets a lot of negative rep for BS reasons. While the movie is not perfect, it is still very good on many ways, one of them being audience involvement. A lot of the "plotholes" or "unanswered questions" can be found in the movie itself, if you only think for a moment. It is true that some of the answers can be found only in the promotional material, it doesn't mean that they are plotholes, and honestly, I feel like unanswered questions aren't a bad thing per se anyway.
