>Interstellar (2014)

>Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984)
>Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
>Gravity (2013)

Honestly, I couldn't get over many parts of the movie - while it was a really nice watch and I don't regret seeing it, multiple parts of it seemed to be ridiculously convoluted.

i can understand that yeah
i watched it as a sort of "The Big Lebowski"-like movie and when it suddenly turned into some kind of trashy assassin thriller thing it amused me

yeah. it is probably just because i was not expecting a drama and normally do not enjoy them, but it is probably the best i have seen. had some great lighter moments too. really good.

If you enjoyed Gran Torino, you might want to take a look at some other of Eastwood's acclaimed movies in the last two decades. A lot of it is very heavy, but there is a deep, yet sad, sense of satisfaction after watching Million Dollar Baby or Unforgiven. Same can be said about Mystic River as well, but I felt a bit more sour after that.

i highly recommend
>Natural Born Killers (1994)
to anyone who calls himself cyberPUNK

>Ip Man 2

liked it very much. Will watch or rewatch the first one (can't remember)

>The Thing (1982)

I.. wow.. I did NOT expect a movie more gory than dead alive (aka braindead). Dead people's guts sprouting legs and owning everyone else. Really fun horror movie.

>Inherent Vice (2014)

Fun movie about a hippie detective. Sloppy in a good way. I.. think i didn't finish it, can recommend already though

>>>/r/10877

>Mystic River
>don't remember much about it visually
i was actually mostly impressed by the visuals, liked the colorful lights and camera work.

>Let the Right One In

yes, very good movie, do watch it except if you're a very impatient person.

>Pan's Labyrinth

didn't like it personally, interesting mix of genres though.

>Nightcrawler

liked it too.

Hellraiser - Inferno (2000): how about no.
i waited impatiently for the protagonist to finally reveal himself as the killer and when the movie played the classic "it was all a dream" card in a super lame way i thought this: dear movie, now please do something original instead of the "OHHH YOU THOUGHT EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW BUT LOOOOK EVERYTHING IS NOT FIIINNE BOOOHOO" ending. it did exactly that.the beginning was fun but it's a really soykaf movie i can't recommend at all.

>Network (1976)

enjoyed that one. the voice intro in one of the recent perturbator songs is from that movie.

The ending was great in my opinion. The speech from Pinhead about how humans destroy their spirituality through the means of flesh (just like cenobites do) makes it one of the better Hellraiser movies and fits the whole series really well, Barker writes about these issues a lot in his books.

How we create our own hell by descending into mindless pleasure and a world of animal instincts.

Well, the OP did say that he purposefully left out some movies, and it's not unlikely that the first two Alien movies were among those.

Still, I'd say that Prometheus gets a lot of negative rep for BS reasons. While the movie is not perfect, it is still very good on many ways, one of them being audience involvement. A lot of the "plotholes" or "unanswered questions" can be found in the movie itself, if you only think for a moment. It is true that some of the answers can be found only in the promotional material, it doesn't mean that they are plotholes, and honestly, I feel like unanswered questions aren't a bad thing per se anyway.

I seem to enjoy a lot of the same movies fellow 'lainons' like, which might not be too surprising. Anyway I'll name some of the things I feel have atleast influenced me in some way as a (struggling) artist.

>Alien & Aliens

>Blade Runner
>Whiplash
>Voices of a Distant Star
>Atonement
>Black Swan
>The Holy Mountain
>Amadeus
>Interstellar
>Minority Report
>Mission Impossible
>The Thing
>Valhalla Rising
>Pi
>Brick
>Jodorowskys Dune (does a doc count?

I really want to find more films that have surreal, noir, cyb, and ambiguous tones. When I was younger I hates most things that were not cut and dry in their message, pretty much making up for lost time now in my mid/late 20s. Any rec's would be greatly appreciated.

And, if you get through the bullshit, it's surprisingly accurate. The bad guy is hiding a virus in trash folders. They dumpster dive and social engineer passwords. Everyone hacks into the supercomputer and starts running forkbombs and similar to disable the monitoring systems. In reality you'd only need to write the program once but they wanted to use the cast I guess.

I heard from an old hacker that there actually was a club in new york that had a rollerblade entrance like that, even, but maybe he was fuarrrk ing with me.
