I don't know much about this stuff but I think these are pretty well made, can take some abuse and it's possible to take them apart without breaking anything beyond repair. Can be fixed even by technologically impaired dregs such as myself.

i don't care about the music anyway, but I've got a friend who is an audiophile. I love his setup. One weird soykafbox with volume control only and gramophone. Of course gramophone needle is hanging on some weird contraption, he told me countless times, that this is to avoid pointless bumps when people are walking and stuff.

i don't really listen to music anymore. i still enjoy music but i don't have it playing whenever i'm at my computer like i used to.
in fact, the reason i got my Q701s was to listen to Japanese binaural audio (ASMR, but i dislike the acronym and it has a negative association with the camwhores on youtube) as it's really comforting. watching Interstellar gave me the idea to acquire sounds of nature like a gently flowing river, rain hitting trees, a bear hunting salmon, a deer being eaten by wolves...but i haven't gotten to it yet.

Hello, how do you people make sure that Pulseaudio or Alsa Dmix or whatever else you're using to mix the sound of different applications doesn't get in the way when you want to listen to your music at high samplerates?

For listening to new albums I have a pair of Panasonic headphones, the sound isolation is fine but the sound is crappy and the headband is uncomfortably hard.

Hey lainons, I've got a question. Is there a word for that feeling you get when you listen to good music and are just fully 'in the zone'?

I listen to a lot of electro, drum & bass, that sort of thing. I find that the repeating beats make it easy to just zone out for a while.

## INCOMING BLOG POST ##

'Kronos Quartet - Shostakovich: String Quartet #8 In C Minor, Op. 110- 1. Largo' started playing a few minutes ago on soma's Earwaves station and I feel the need to do this.

I've dedicated a lot of time to music. Everyone that knows me says that music is my passion but I honestly view it as some sort of necessity. I used to have a constant need to find and listen to interesting music that will satisfy my ears. We've all listened to that track that has a really nice replay value at some point in our lives. We enjoyed that. Why am I the only one thinking there has to be more from where that came from ?

It all started with me playing Prince of Persia Warrior Within when I was young. I was probably letting out my inner edgyness because decapitating souless monsters made me feel good. Also Kaileena. Also the soundtrack.
This is how I started listening music, the first genre I chose to be exposed I would later find out to be alternative rock. I've listened to some similar bands, I can't even remember their name at this point, and soon got into Disturbed and some of the bands from the nu metal scene from that time. Nu Metal was more rewarding and aggressive than rock so I went through it for a time. There's a bar in my hometown where people of young age used to gather and listen to metal. Went there, started drinking and became accustomed to other metal subgenres and with other types of people. Growling was unrewarding for me at the time but I kept coming back because of my friends.

>>

 No.1692

After that came a seemingly innocent youtube search that started it all. "Oriental Metal" I wrote thinking of that Prince of Persia soundtrack. It started flowing, Orphaned Land, Melechesh and most of the bands from those compilations on youtube. Found out about metalstorm, then metal blogs, slowly I was gathering pride from my listening knowledge and I would pester my friends with my newfound cassette rip of some death metal band from South Africa named after some ancient empire. I listened to all albums in the metalstorm top lists and all that seemed interesting from the user curated lists, their staff picks are somewhat nice. There were also top lists on metal blogs.I listened to all that. I used to have a backlog with the name of the album and the band with more than 300 entries in it. I kept adding more to it than I was listening to but at some point I listened to it all, and that's just metal.

Around my first college year, I started having a drinking problem and started listening to post.punk and post.rock.Dropped out of collage after a few months and spent the rest of the year in isolation. While searching for top lists for these sub genres I found about rym. That ended it all.

Years later after listening to all the albums from top and esoteric lists on rym for any genre I knew filtered by decade or year while also listening to year lists from rym and other sites, all while listening to stuff I would find on /mu/ I started feeling the first signs of saturation.

>>

 No.1693

After that I got into what.cd thanks to someone that started listening to Swans and Godspeed and was looking for something similar. As smug as this sounds I knew I was going to win the contest for that what.cd invite the momment I started writing from my newly made cock.li address. (Just in case you are wondering this is the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTRgg5D3BP8 ). I started listening to all that evaded my ears before, this time with a certain bias towards covers that I aquired thanks to those collages.

I abandoned the account due to me being unsatisfied with a certain part of the staff. The only things I miss are user collages and the metal, ambient, post.rock and experimental music threads which I check out from time to time from one fo my invetee's account. [shout-out to glorybox who just restarted blogging http://www.toneglow.net/ ]. I really wish someone would just clone the whole collage system and the simple forum because it's a great experience that is sadly limited to a single site.

For some reason which is alien to me right now I also used to have a mixed feed for online dj mixes which I delete a while ago. For some of you dj mix is synonym with electronic dance music but there are some neat dj mixes for other genres too like the Secret Thirteen mixes for example.

I think I've arrived at music saturation. I can barely stand anything else except electroacoustic,plunderphonics,field.recordings,noise,ambient,drone,modern.classical,minimal/ambient/acid techno, micro/deep house.

Nowadays I just check nodata.tv,skim /mu/,check /noise/ if any and then choose between Earwaves, Doomed and Drone Zone stations so I don't feel wierd after so much time of constantly listening to stuff.

I don't know why I wrote all this to be honest but now that I did it I'm going to post it and not even Kalyx's spider ghost is going to stop me.

Please make more music threads in the future, I don't really stand /mu/ anymore either, it is like kicking dead whales down the beach more than it used to.
