Final dump for now...

The car was my first ever 3D project (not just playing with shapes)... back in 1997, on a 233mhz P1, 64MB ram cuz i was fly, and 6GB yes thats a near infinate 6000MB of hard disk. Served up with a side order of 4MB S4 graphics card, all on a bed of Winfag 95!

Does anyone know how well CS6 works in a VM (from Linux) or with WINE? or sandiboxed in Win - I just want to lock it down so no internet or phone adobe crap - N.B. I do have a ligit copy I just like to make sure adobe dont do any info send to their servers - for anything!

(I know I should just try it - but, im soykaf and will only fuarrrk somting up)
I need full/good speed CUDA/OpenGL support - only reason I still run Winblows as my main OS is CS6.

Do ATI cards support CUDA rendering (or somthing equaly impressive and fully featured) in CS6? - currently feel NVIDIA is the winner because of CUDA support. Also while im hear... Low wattage card <60W whats the fastest pci x16 of any brand on the market? And what is the fastest pci 1x low power card? Currently have NVIDIA GT240 (16x pci) + 610 (1x pci)... need more speed!

Congrats OP, good job, very interesting. Probably very hard to do it, no? I never worked with 3D modeling, but seems hard.

I used PS CC and Lightroom some time ago, in VirtualBox... it's usable, but a bit lag.
You could try KVM and do PCI passthrough this will speed up a lot.

You can have it only if you do PCI passthrough.
Try a system in RAM like Antergos, too, it will speed the thing:

Thankyou...

The car (of which the engine is a part) too bloody ages... it was my first "getting to know 3D" project, so took about a soykaf ton of hrs - maybe 100-200? long long ago!

The Vaccume tools took an evening + a few hrs corrections and polishing off.

The map is about 2-2.5hrs

Tidal power was about 8hrs

the trumpet thing (multiverse idea that necver worked) 1-2hrs

super nova, 3ish hrs

Solar system - 6-8hrs but is more setup than just a diagram - is full orbits, angles and speeds, with key moons too.

Eclipe about 8hrs.

Stone henge was a good days work and a bit the next.

The optics about 4hrs ish.

the spectrometer took a good 5hrs or so as was all hand drawn vector not 3D.

Back in the days i worked like a horse for every client, because they were all gonna lead onto this or that, or thats all the budget allows. They expect you to mash the keys and mouse for 5min and get an image out - its not fuarrrking photography!
