Is MAD making considered an artform to you? And if it does, what aspects of them qualify one as a piece of art instead of parody gone nuts?

In my opinion I don't know where the boundary is drawn considering there is no scholarly subset of the MAD making community. I have no idea what that would entail or even operate as but seeing how each language community has been coming together in its own way to critique each other and help to those new to the craft shows that such a thing is possible.
