Last thread reached posting limit and is almost a year old. So, show Anon your favourite cyberpunk music, /cyb/!

Lately, I've been listening to some breakcore stuff.

I've been listening to a lot of heavy synthwave lately.

GosT's debut album dropped this week; https://blood-music.bandcamp.com/album/behemoth
I think his self-titled EP is better though; https://gost1980s.bandcamp.com/album/s-t

Carpenter Brut's EP compilation TRILOGY is all around good; https://carpenterbrut.bandcamp.com/album/trilogy . EP III is my favorite however; it starts at Division Ruine and ends with Invasion A.D.

Then there's SurgeryHead; https://surgeryhead.bandcamp.com/album/garbage-day-a-k-a-black-neon

I've been getting into more synthpop stuff too. I rediscovered Studio Killers for instance; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo-EmtXbFRg. There needs to be more digital bands; maybe with the advent of VR going mainstream that'll happen.

Le Cassette; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKWOjKmgZHA
Makeup and Vanity Set; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK3qEY5URRw
They just came out with a new album btw; https://telefuturenow.bandcamp.com/album/wilderness
>>244
Link's not loading for me but if it's anything like digital hardcore I'll find it hard to listen to.

>Chill, cool and relaxing breakcore please?

No such thing. Except maybe Venetian Snares three albums Rossz Csillag Alatt Született, My Downfall and My Love Is a Bulldozer. But I wouldn't call any of the three "relaxing" myself, just because they feature a lot of strings and are heavily influenced by classical music. They still contain ridiculous time signatures, chopped and screwed breaks and orchestral composition that will give you a headache.

>>

 No.296

>>295
Are you sure? I do listen to a lot of Venetian Snares (pretty much all of the breakcore I listen to), and it wasn't Venetian Snares, but it was quite chill. Maybe it wasn't exactly breakcore? It did sound pretty breakcore to me in the background, but idk, I don't know much about music tbh.

>>

 No.297

>>296

I'm pretty sure. Breakcore, jungle, ragga jungle, skullstep, drum and bass, liquid, anything that features the Amen break heavily, is what I listen to most.

If it was on the radio, I doubt it was Breakcore. Breakcore is niche even in electronic music circles. I can't think of any that has ever been played on radio, unless it was nothing more than college radio. Drum and bass on the other hand, has been on mainstream radio, TV adverts and crossed over into rock acts. There's been plenty of drum and bass in the last few years on mainstream radio with acts like Chase & Status and Rudimental.

Both Breakcore and Drum & Bass make use of the "Amen break" sample. But breakcore perverts it to a whole other level of mind fuarrrkery than drum and bass.

If it's not nightcore, it's not happy hardcore either (they're pretty much the same thing, but for some reason kids today call happy hardcore "nightcore"). It's certainly not breakcore because there's no such thing as chill, cool and relaxing breakcore. The only thing that is "chill" and heavily features the Amen break or a tempo similar to breakcore is certain styles of drum and bass. Patricularly atmospheric or liquid drum and bass.

Like right now lainchan radio is playing Loxy & Resound who make drum and bass and have released a lot of stuff on pretty big dnb labels like Metalheadz and Digital Soundboy.

My issue with both radio stations is that they don't keep their content strict to the 'cyberpunk' label. For example, they stream also rock music. Nothing against rock music, I like it myself, but when I look at a cover, I would like to get what I see. It has to be sound at least a bit 'technoid'.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGijCh4Cxyg

Lyrics:

...I don't want to be anywhere with anybody
and I can't live with myself
nowhere to go when I want to get lost
from this world, this city, this room, this body, my self...
same age-old inability - inescapable alien scapegoat
no home, nobody, no body
can't connect to anyone I know - no (I know, I know!)

waste of breath and flesh and thoughts
when the night is over what've I got?
I'm up all night every night
just to be alone I gotta get my head together (right!)
lookin' like soykaf outta fuarrrkin "I, ZOMBIE"
and I'm wondering "will it be this way forever?"
knowing damn well that I need a change (yeah!)
no more waiting (no no no NO)
what do I got in me - to offer myself?
nah fuarrrk it - one time, this time
what can I offer to someone besides my self

my life - I thought if I concentrated
my life - but where is that taking me
I'm cold - to everyone close to me
I try - but was I lying when I said I'd look at my self

waste of breath and flesh and thoughts
when the night is over what've I got?
what did I say before? I'll reach out to you?
what did I mean by that? (ha) I'll lift you up?
what do I got in me - to offer my self
fuarrrk it - this time, one time
what can I offer someone besides my self!

my life - I thought if I concentrated
my life - but where is that taking me
I'm cold - to everybody close to me
I try - but was I lying when I said I'd look at my self
CHANGE -
without first thinking about what will come back to directly benefit me

what is it to comprehend another man's existence as significant as my own
afraid of realizing that I am equal in every way
though our cultures may be separated it's only a dividing line
to keep a sense of distance from the fact that we're the same
it's an isolated island of a world we're being born into
as information overloads the violence keeps on pouring through
and what's a better way than staying safe within myself
remaining callous to a fellow citizen when we're all dealt
the same hand of cards, and the same pain is felt
the same mental scars, the same neon hell
with open eyes I'll see my flesh come pouring off my bones
we only got eachother, cos in death we're all alone
my life - I thought if I'd isolate it
my life - to break my ego free
but that becomes self indulgence and I'm too absorbed to see...
what did I want - I always know
what I want - when I can't have
what I want - the easy way, yeah
but watch this when I find out what I need NOW

my life - I thought if I concentrated
my life - but where is that taking me
I'm cold - to everybody close to me
I try - but was I lying when I said I'd look at my self
can I find out what I need
when I look at my self - with open eyes - one time - this time...

I'd say almost all of their music is. The theme and feel of it too. One thing that is strange is that they were pretty much homeless at one point and when they finally got paid, they bought cellphone jammers and other stuff like that. They pulled off that whole deep web arg thing too.

You know what, I take that back

Its way more cyberpunk than the shitty rap and garbagewave being posted ITT, as well as way more enjoyable

I was too harsh here. At the moment, the music is pretty schway. I probably had some bad luck when I logged in the times when it was crap.

How wide do y'all cast the net of cyberpunk?

I know applying subgenres to music is trivial, but there's a lot of dark futuristic music being produced that isn't "punk" or "cyber" in terms of lyrics or theme (pic related what I've been playing heavily)

I think that's a reflection of our society becoming more futuristic/cyberpunk

But... I'm not being able to find it anymore.

Does /art/ only have one page worth of threads on it or something...?

Anyone know a good blog or site (non-what.cd, my ratio can't handle my demand) where recent vaporwave releases are shared/traded? Seen as every "label" started charging from them after Dream Catalogue did…
