Does anyone else find images of this style of architecture to be weirdly soothing?

it makes sense as theyre the public works buildings of our childhoods.

what do you mean by this?

>>

I enjoy it, because it looks logical, functional, and often (relatively)pretty.

>>

well I like this stuff in a dystopian collapsed society where everything is made out of concrete and steel. so I can shout "Only half the world is teflon and asbestos
the rest is flammable" while throwing molotov cocktails.
I hate this ugly stuff in my neighborhood though...

If I had a house built to order, I would use this kind of architecture.

Sure, I'd probably need to fit within a HOA(fuck those guys), but I'd do whatever I could in a brutalist style.

Very much so, I don't know what it is about that architecture but I love it.

Anime, cyberpunk video games, brutalist architecture and computer IT/programming. There is nothing about me fuarrrk ing unique is there. Like no in a special flower kind of way but in a how the hell do fuarrrk ing all of my interests overlap with everyone in the same way?

Also it's very pretty. I think I love it most because its like a minimalist structure but the airiness of the windows and wide open spacious is replaced with concrete and claustrophobia. It's a both parallel and opposite of minimalism

This is what happens when you visit an imageboard full of like-minded people. Were you expecting something different or contrary?

It's not any one feature, interest, or experience that makes us unique.
What makes us unique is the one of a kind combination of common traits.

I love commieblocks
I was born in the former Eastern Bloc, so I always associate them with childhood

As for brutalism, I'm not a fan. Minimalist architecture is bland as it is; adding concrete gives me nausea
However, I do think the dystopian aesthetic of brutalism works perfectly with government/public service buildings

i think most of it is too sloppy for my taste

i only like modern architecture if it is actually a work of art and executed in a very consistent fashion.

I don't really know how to talk about art, and I never have an opinion on a work of art beyond I like it/I don't like it, so bear with me.

The brutalist aesthetic is minimalistic and austere. It makes a building look monolithic and monumental - like stonehenge or the pyramids. A brutalist building looks modern while also looking like it's stood there for a 1000 years. Even if it's small it looks imposing and epic, as if it were above human scale. Brutalism is grim, cold, dystopian, epic, and futuristic, such a building is looks unnatural especially when surrounded by nature or open space. I like everything about it.

Or maybe this is the reason I like it, I spent the first 10 years of my life in Eastern Europe.
