The technobabble is better than usual for TV writing, but it's kinda cheesy at the same time. Pretty fun /cyb/ish show imo if you don't take it too seriously, but I doubt it will have enough appeal to last past the first season.

It feels as if scenarists are only now taking computing and the people behind it seriously.

Between this show and Silicon Valley or Halt and Catch Fire, it's refreshing to see that some of them do indeed try to understand it and not handwave it with revolving 3D cubes.

I still love how over the top that latter approach is though.

This is precisely the issue for me. I can't suspend my disbelief because I am too close to the type of situations that this show fictionalizes. My initial problem was that the opening speech made me embarassed for the person making it, but on my second attempt I just couldn't take it seriously becuase it violates so much what I know about how the computing world works.

I couldn't manage to take it as "so bad it's good" either. Unlike CSI it actually seems to be trying, and that's why it's so much harder to watch.

Last week, I finally checked it out, and I was actually quite surprised. The technobabble is miles above anything that I've watched before, which makes it easier to take seriously. The storyline is a bit silly, but overall it is not bad at all - I'd call it Dexter about hacking. There is one thing that worries me a lot, though, and it's Mr. Robot himself. I really hope that there is no plot twist about him being only in Elliot's mind, even though it seems like a very likely direction. It'd be really cool if it was actually a red herring.

I really do like how all the episodes are really connected, just picking up one from the middle won't get you much like a lot of other series. Yeah that entire last bit was interesting.

Sure they might be building for the next season and I think they are. Before this season is over I think they will try to hack it and fail. That will be the set up for season two, they were young, disorganized, not ready or whatever reason they can think of for what they were taking on.

So in season two they will have cops/hackers/bosses breathing down their necks while they try to do it all over again.
But I don't think that means more tech just because they say "The best is yet to come", because that can mean a lot of different thing, especially for non tech people.

All in all, pretty much the best series on television we have. Only one I'm really following and looking forward too.
